BJP Manifesto for Andhra 2009 Assembly Elections

Here are some of the highlights of the BJP manifesto for Andhra 2009 Assembly Elections.
* Formation of Telangana state in 100 days,
* Farmers’ loan waiver for upto Rs 50,000,
* A scheme to deposit Rs 21,116 for girl child
* Offering ‘mangal sutra’ to poor brides
Seeking to cash in on the sentiments for separate Telangana statehood in the region, the BJP promised it would carve out Telangana state out of AP in 100 days if the NDA came to power at the Centre.
“Regional parties like TRS and TDP cannot realise this. We are a party that gives Telangana. We are not the party to ask for Telangana from others,” state BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters after releasing the manifesto here.
Asserting that the party gave top priority to agriculture, he said the BJP government would spend four per cent of the state GDP on the sector.
“Irrespective of the holding, we shall provide loan waiver for up to Rs 50,000. We shall extend loans to farmers at four per cent interest. Free power will be provided for irrigation facilities for pump sets of less than 10 horse power,” Mr. Dattatreya said.
