Mulayam decries BSP for NSA against Varun
AFTER the BJP crying foul, it is now the turn of Samajwadi party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav to accuse the Mayawati government for “wrongly imposing” the National Security Act (NSA) on Varun Gandhi. “It is wrong to impose NSA on Varun Gandhi. I am personally against imposition of NSA. It has been misused. But I would say whatever is being done with Varun Gandhi is a game plan of BJP and BSP. Why was Varun not arrested when he was coming from Delhi?” asked Mulayam.
Despite a Pilibhit court granting him bail in both the hate speech cases, the BJP candidate from Pilibhit continues to face an uncertain future, even as his party, the BJP, hopes to gain maximum political mileage out of the entire drama unfolding in the quiet UP town. BJP’s Election in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Kalraj Mishra had said that that senior party leaders will continue to campaign for Varun Gandhi in Pilibhit.
“BJP has announced him (Varun Gandhi) as our candidate. We will formulate a strategy that is positive, law abiding and in accordance to the Model Code of Conduct to ensure that Varun Gandhi wins the elections,” said Mishra. With Varun still in jail after the Mayawati government slapped the NSA on him, the BJP plans to rope in senior leader like prime ministerial candidate LK Advani and party President Rajnath Singh to campaign for Varun.
