Shobha Rani’s husband arrested
Ranganayakulu, husband of N. Shobha Rani, president of Mahila Rajyam, women’s wing of the Praja Rajyam, was arrested on Wednesday by the S.R. Nagar police here in connection with a dowry harassment complaint lodged by Ms. Shobha Rani a year ago.
An advocate, Ms. Shobha Rani in her complaint then charged her husband with harassing her mentally and physically for dowry. According to her, he used to frequently come home in an intoxicated condition and subject her to torture, police said. But Ranganayakulu went into hiding after the case was registered.
“On being told that he came to her house at Yellareddyguda drunk and created trouble, he was taken into custody,” police said. Ranganayakulu told the police that he lived in Kukatpally all these days. He was sent to hospital for medical examination. Ms. Shobha Rani married Ranganayakulu in 2003.
