‘Cong booklet’ creates ripples in TDP camp
Visakhapatnam: The TDP has taken exception to the circulation of a booklet along with a Telugu daily, saying that it amounted to violation of model code. The book ‘Friend of The Farmer,’ which devotes nearly 40 pages to Daggubati Purandeswari, was circulated to readers as a special supplement on Ugadi.
The TDP filed complaints to the Election Commission and state chief electoral officer (CEO) and took the issue to the notice of former EC advisor K J Rao also. “How could the daily distribute the book which talks about the good work done by the Union minister? It amounts to influencing the voter,” TDP urban committee president Kona Tata Rao said.
He said the poll officials have also not taken cognizance of the fact that Purandeswari was with 15 leaders when she filed the nomination papers for Visakhapatnam LS seat.
Tata Rao also objected to Purandeswari repeatedly taking the name of her father and TDP founder N T Ramarao.
“She could propagate the schemes of her Congress government but how could she take credit for NTR’s schemes,” he sought to know.
