ETV, Sakshi Forgetting Responsibilities With Fighting
There was a time when the news channels worked with an ethical code of conduct and had a responsibility to bring the truth and also have answerability towards the people. These days, all that has gone down the drain and all that remains is the voice of the powerful.
That seemed to be the inference many made when they have been watching the Sakshi and ETV channels. It looked like they were some bitter rivals at college who would get to fist fights at the drop of a hat. The election – 2009 became a platform for both channels to vent out their hatred for each other’s parties.
While ETV has been known to be a strong TDP sympathizer, Sakshi has been known for its outright Congress support for obvious reasons. In order to sing their favorite party songs, they did not hesitate to come up with nasty animations and special features that would mark the mud slinging in the highest order.
With this, the viewers have complained that both channels who hold a fairly responsible position in the society and cause a fair amount of impact on the society are busy bringing out their personal differences without thinking twice about their viewers. We might be proud of being the world’s largest democracy but this seems to be the real side of it.
