inept attitude of the present Congress rule and the previous Telugu Desam Party rule resulted in thousands of farmers committing suicides, Praja Rajyam president K. Chiranjeevi alleged on Saturday.

He formed Praja Rajyam to provide good governance and end the misrule of Congress and keep the hi-tech TDP rule at bay, Mr. Chiranjeevi alleged in public meetings at Badvel, Kadapa and Rayachoti.

The TDP government ignored the plight of the common man and laid stress on promoting hi-tech policies in urban areas, he alleged.

Mr. Chiranjeevi called upon the people to reject Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s dubious promises to benefit all sections of people.

The Congress government was steeped in corruption and ‘jalayagnam’ became a money-spinner for then party leaders, he alleged. Vexed with Congress rule, electorate gave an adverse verdict in the first phase and hence Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was exhibiting his intolerance. He asked why nearly 7,000 farmers ended their lives in the Congress government which claimed to be pro-farmer. He appealed to people to reject both Congress and the TDP.

Praja Rajyam was committed to the welfare of the downtrodden, weaker and poorer sections of people. It gave 104 Assembly seats to BCs, six to Muslim minorities and fielded SC/STs in eight general seats.

Mr. Chiranjeevi promised supply of an LPG refill at Rs. 100, ‘Pasupu, kumkuma’ scheme for women, monthly allowance of Rs. 1,000 to each unemployed person and to generate employment to 10 lakh persons in the first 1,000 days, if he regained power.

Creating hype

Nellore Staff Reporter adds: Praja Rajyam president K.Chiranjeevi has said that Telugu Desam Party supremo N.Chandrababu was creating hype among the public over the prospects of ‘Maha Kootami’ in the just concluded Assembly elections in Telangana districts.

Speaking to the newsmen here on Saturday, he said Mr. Naidu is creating a psychological feeling among the public that the people voted for the ‘kootami’ and will have edge in Telangana districts.

But, Praja Rajyam gave tough fight for Congress and ‘Maha Kootami’ in the elections and wind is blowing in favour of the party in coastal districts, he said.

Stating that the response from the public for the road shows is overwhelming, the PR chief said the party will win with a comfortable majority and opined that there will not be hung in the State. Reacting to the comments of Chief Minister Y.S.Rajashekara Reddy on separate Telangana, Mr.Chiranjeevi said that Mr.Reddy was deceiving the public with different statements on separate statehood.

The Praja Rajyam president said the party will continue the construction of irrigation projects and the welfare schemes introduced by Congress party, if voted to power, in the State.
