PRP getting Yellow feelers?

The rumour mills got working when film producer Ch.
Aswini Dutt
called on Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) founder Chiranjeevi last night.
The speculation is whether the yellow party is seeking the film star’s support in the State in the event of an ambiguous verdict.
Close to TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, Dutt had a brief meeting with the PRP president.
This has been confirmed by PRP sources who, however, were tight-lipped on what transpired between the two leaders.
Dutt, who unsucessfully contested the Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat on the TDP ticket in the 2004 elections, worked behind the scenes this time, preparing propaganda films for the party.
The meeting is being construed by political analysts as a sign that the TDP, doubful of managing the numbers on its own, will need to reach out to the PRP if it is to have a shot at forming the government.
Dutt, who has produced several hit movies for Chiranjeevi, is currently doing a film for the son of Nara Rammurthy Naidu, brother of the TDP chief.
The PRP hopes to get about 50 to 60 seats in the Assembly. If that indeed happens, then its support would be crucial for any party aspiring to form the next Government in the State.
According to the TDP’s calculation, the PRP may get around 25 to 45 Assembly seats — still a considerable number in an unclear situation.
The PRP sources said Chiranjeevi and Chandrababu Naidu had a lot of common friends on whose services the TDP president could draw to reach out to the PRP leadership.
For its part, the PRP has made it clear that it would wait till May 16 before taking up the pros and cons of various arrangements.
Asked about the Dutt-Chiru meeting, TDP politburo member K Yerran Naidu jokingly told journos: “You have to write something or the other till results are out!” And Naidu neither denied nor confirmed the said meeting.
“Just wait till counting day,” was his advice.
