After TRS, BJP woos TD, PR

After mustering the support of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, the BJP is trying to woo the Telugu Desam and Praja Rajyam for the formation of an NDA government at the Centre.
The senior BJP leader, Mr M. Venkaiah Naidu, has reportedly been deputed to gain the support of the TD chief, Mr Chandrababu Naidu, and the Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi. BJP leaders believe both the parties are likely to get above 20 Lok Sabha seats which can tilt the balance in favour of NDA.
If the Left finally decides to support the Congress at the Centre, the TD can no longer be part of the Third Front. This is what the BJP is banking on. Also, the proposed fourth front of the Praja Rajyam is a non-starter.
The BJP is hopeful of winning 10 to 20 Assembly seats in the state and says it will play a decisive role in government formation. As quid pro quo, it would ask the parties it helps to reciprocate by enabling an NDA government to come to power at the Centre.
“The Third Front is a myth and so Mr Naidu has no other option except to join hands with the BJP if he is keen to fight the Congress,” said the BJP leader, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya. “Our support to the TD in the state will depend on the moves of Mr Naidu.”
He welcomed the decision of the TRS to join hands with NDA.
“Mr Rao telephoned me a week ago,” he said. “We would have been happier if he had joined hands with BJP before the elections. Anyway, we are happy though he took the decision now.”
He criticised the Left parties for castigating the TRS.
